Best Curtains For Kitchen In 2017

Dark and White

"I wanted it to seem less boring and more like a smart butler's pantry," designer Lilly Bunn says of the New York City kitchen. The Roman shade is created from Holland & Sherry's Belfour linen, and the existing cabinets are painted Benjamin Moore Aura from Black.

Light and Lively

Window remedies not just add softness and fashion, but also control light, protecting interior furnishings and materials from damaging UV rays. "Flat Roman fabric sunglasses from Smith & Noble can be found using a solitude lining that provides sun protection," says Kara Roberts, Director of Merchandising for the business. Shown here is a Flat Roman Fabric Color in Samara/Stone with solitude lining.

Coordinated Charm

Fabric-based window treatments are a terrific way to balance all of the hard surfaces in the kitchen whilst also adding pattern and colour. This habit shade lower and can raise to privacy and control sunlight. "Whether up or down, the shade keeps the kitchen atmosphere glowing with splashes of yellow from this Thom Filicia cloth, Prospect at Shadow," says the manufacturer. Continue the appearance by using fabric in places like lampshades (see the shades in the wall sconces), barstools, chairs and even Fido's bed.

Tailored Alternative

"When planning a kitchen design, putting the sink under a window is a great alternative," says designer Karen Sealy. "Having a nice perspective can make washing the dishes or prepping food much more enjoyable." She specified shutters to complete the transitional style of the room. "Utilizing dividers is a low-maintenance alternate to drapery that controls light levels and views," she states.

Exotic Element

"Fabric shades are like great artwork: They change a distance and its inhabitants," says Kara Roberts, Director of Merchandising for Smith & Noble, the manufacturer of those Moroccan-style shades shown here. Flat Roman colors lie flat when reduced, making a very low profile look that works with a large assortment of prints and fabrics and fold up in the very top when raised.

Twice as Nice

For the ultimate in versatility, consider shades which may be raised and lowered from the top or bottom as necessary. "These simple and sleek shades by Kirsch can drop down from the surface or elevated up from the ground to permit you to command the opinion or the sun as required," says the merchant.

Formal Effect

Designer Robin Baron gave this tasteful country kitchen that the ideal finishing touch with an ornate scalloped valance over the sink. "I always say 'amazing layout is in the details' and this beautiful valance is a perfect example," says Baron. "I used the depth of iron hooks to produce the dramatic pleating in lieu of a conventional rod and embellished the classic linen floral cloth with tassel trim, and matching tape, giving weight and importance to this country-inspired valance."

Sky Blue Shutters

Shutters painted in Benjamin Moore Aura in Old Blue Jeans attract a bright British nation note into an urban kitchen.

French Accent

When they remodeled an older family home with French architectural details, kitchen designers Marvin Daniel and Brian Pilgrim of KDW Home desired to give it an open and airy look that still felt in keeping with the style of the house. Shades in a French cloth added only the accent the space required.

Pretty Pattern

At a kitchen using simple style and a mostly white colour palette, a splash of layout may add personality. "Help framework a beautiful view using a valance mounted over the window. This ikat-patterned fabric, Bansuri in Slate, has a rich neutral which adds interest to the solid white cupboards," says the maker.
